Quick Note on the Source of Confidence and Self-Esteem

The skills you develop and the talents you nurture should never be the source of your confidence and self esteem.

Rather, the value you hold for yourself should be the reason you develop those skills and nurture those talents in the first place.

You valuing yourself is the source of your value and, in turn, your confidence and self-esteem.

No one else can truly give it you and no one has the right to take it from you.

That value you hold for yourself is the reason why you honor and respect yourself enough to build yourself, develop yourself, and improve yourself each and every day.

It’s the reason why you put yourself together before you leave the house. Because you respect yourself and value yourself. You are worth it and you deserve it.

The fact that your value yourself is the reason why you have confidence and is the source of your self esteem. It is therefore the reason why you honor yourself enough to love yourself.

Without it, your self-esteem is reliant on outside factors that may not be stable.

While the skills you develop could be developed by other people as well, leaving you in a fabricated competition with them, you yourself are a unique gift, God’s creation, with inherent value the moment you are conceived.

That is who you are and you need no special skills, talents, or abilities, to have value, worth, and honor.

In fact, since there is always room to improve on your skills and talents, relying on them as the source of your confidence and self-esteem is by definition never enough and cannot stand on its own.

Acknowledging the value you are born with, on the other hand, will never fail you and will hold true no matter what your skills, talents, and abilities are. No matter your successes and failures (which, if you value yourself, are just lessons for success anyway), you have value.

You are born with it and no one has the authority to take it from you.
